Many organizations struggle with the lack of diversity at the leadership level. The answer to this dilemma is to create a “leadership pipeline” of aspiring candidates and offer programs to develop their leadership competencies. For some employers, who truly intend to develop greater diversity at the higher levels of management, the pipeline turns out to be a myth, or is one that leaks due to poor retention and has a disappointing outcome.
In this workshop attendees will receive an overview of the strategies for building an effective pipeline and the program components which are necessary to support it. Along with this discussion will be an exploration of the barriers created by “Glass Ceilings” and cultural practices that keep them in place.
Among the major issues covered in the workshop are:
- How to analyze your organization’s leadership development system
- Learn to evaluate your pipeline for its impact on diverse populations
- Re-tool the delivery of existing development tactics so that they have more leverage and impact
- The use of Individual Development Plan and process oversight
- Starting a Diverse Pipeline as a new initiative
